How to Buy Lingerie for your
Lover:
We understand that it can be difficult to purchase sexy lingerie
for your partner. What size, what color, what style? These are
all questions that plague the novice and experienced lingerie
buyer. In an effort to eliminate or at least decrease lingerie
buying confusion we created this guide to buying lingerie.
Have a Panty Raid
Do some research, look through the lingerie drawers, find labels
and write down what you see. You can get almost all the
information you need by doing this.
Things to take note of when drawer
raiding:
Sizes - select a newer garment for
correct sizing, you don’t want to make the mistake of purchasing
lingerie in the size was versus the size she is.
Colors - If she has every color
under the rainbow except blue, there's a good chance she either
doesn't like the color blue, or doesn't think it looks good on
her. If on the other hand all she has is whites or soft earth
tones, you can always try spicing things up a bit with a vivid
color like bright red, blue or purple.
Styles - If you’re not sure what's
what, then as they say 'a picture is worth a thousand words'.
Browse the different categories and then either pick out some
items similar to what she already has, or if she's timid, and
her lingerie selection is small or even a little boring, let her
know you think she's sexy by choosing some of the more daring
lingerie.
Fabric – Often used in edgier
lingerie, faux leather can have many different looks ranging
from patent leather to plastic (also referred to as PVC). Faux
leather is usually easy to clean, tend to be more durable and
sometimes have a lining.
Fabric Patterns – This lightweight
material is soft, extremely elastic and durable. Lycra is always
blended with other fibers and therefore washing should be based
on what the primary fiber is.
Comfort - if you find babydolls and
chemises, your lady may not be into latex, corsets or other
binding garments. You can be safe and choose the same styles she
already has, or if you're trying to spice things up a little,
take a chance and try getting her something different.
Note: You’re looking for sexy,
so avoid the lingerie she's already seen at the discount stores
and ANY garment that has “control” or “reduce” in
the name, on the label or on the tag. Otherwise you won’t
have to worry about sex any time soon. |

Bra Sizes
There are three factors for the perfect bra fit.
1. Band
2. Cup
3. Straps
The Band: This number is the
circumference of the body at the bust (32, 34, 36, 38, 40) you
can find this number on the label on most bras and it’ll look
like this: 34B.
The Cup: The letter is the cup size
(A, B, C etc...) you'll also find this on the label, but if not
think fruit. Yes, you read correctly, fruit.
You can measure the fullness this way:
Plum = AA or smaller
Lemon = A
Orange = B
Grapefruit = C
Melons = D
The Straps: The straps provide
support so the width will determine how much is provided. The
larger the breast the wider the strap is a good rule of thumb.
However, if you’re shopping for a bra that won’t stay on for
very long, the straps can be any width.
If you’re unsure of the bra size stick with things labeled
S-M-L; nightgowns, chemises and babydolls are a safe bet. |

Lingerie for Different Body Types:
Pear Shape: smaller on top and
bigger on bottom; pears look nice in babydolls, chemises and
robes.
Up-Side Down Pear: wider or bigger
on top and thin on the bottom; upside down pears look lovely in bustiers, camisoles and cami sets.
Hourglass: proportioned equally
from top to bottom; hourglasses can wear all styles of lingerie.
How to Camouflage Problem Areas:
Hips: Find garments that flow
loosely over the hips such as babydolls, chemises and robes
Buttocks: Look for garments that
don’t hug or cling to the buttocks such as chemises, long gowns
and cami sets
Stomach: Purchase garments that
flow such as babydolls
Personality
Now that you have the basics of size and body type be sure to
remember the most important element when selecting any gift for
your lover: personality. If you’ve never seen her wear something
more risqué than a babydoll you may want to purchase a
crotchless body stocking. Think about it; is she feminine,
sporty, flirty, cozy etc this will help you make the right
purchase. Remember, you’re buying for your partner not for
yourself. And if she feels beautiful you will both have a
beautiful night! |

Lingerie Material Guide
Lingerie Fiber Materials:
Lingerie is made from many different types of natural and
synthetic fibers, each with their own attributes. Your choice of
fibers may depend on the feel of the fabric, the fabric
durability or the how easy it is to care for.Natural Materials – Materials made
of fibers that come from a plant or an animal.
1. Cotton – Allows the skin to breathe and comes in great
colors. Cotton washes well and is pretty durable but beware of
possible shrinkage.
2. Silk – A popular lingerie material that feels sexy against
the skin and has beautiful movement. The care of silk lingerie
is more labor intensive and sometimes requires dry cleaning.
Synthetic Materials – Synthetic
materials are all man made
1. Faux Leather – Often used in edgier lingerie, faux leather
can have many different looks ranging from patent leather to
plastic (also referred to as PVC). Faux leather is usually easy
to clean, tend to be more durable and sometimes have a lining.
2. Lycra – This lightweight material is soft, extremely elastic
and durable. Lycra is always blended with other fibers and
therefore washing should be based on what the primary fiber is.
3. Nylon – Most commonly remembered for nylon stockings or
“nylons”, nylon is used in many easy to care for garments. It is
elastic, wrinkle resistant and super easy to care for. Polyester
– It’s not just for old ladies. Polyester is designed to
stretch, resist wrinkling and is durable, qualities that make it
popular for blending with other fibers. It too is easy to care
for.
4. Rayon – A less expensive and more durable substitute for
silk, rayon is often blended with other fibers. It is
comfortable and drapes well but based on whether it’s blended or
not may require more effort in the care department.
5. Micro fiber – A blend of polyester and polyamide, fabrics
made with microfibers are exceptionally soft and hold their
shape well. These fibers have an excellent moisture removal or
wicking quality and are easy to care for.

the back is dull.
2. Chiffon – Sheer, lightweight, thin fabric made of nylon,
rayon or silk.
3. Jacquard – Fabric that is woven to create and effect of a
pattern or print.
4. Mesh – Is full of small openings and can be sheer to
semi-sheer.
5. Opaque – A fabric in which the body cannot be seen through
the garment.
6. Mesh – Is full of small openings and can be sheer to
semi-sheer.
7. Satin – A soft, smooth fabric with a glossy face and dull
back – very similar to Charmeuse.
8. Sheer – Is full of small openings and can be sheer to
semi-sheer. |

mesh with floral designs.
2. Cire – Pronounced seer-ray, this fabric has a highly glazed,
glossy finish.
3. Eyelash lace – Lace garment with very short strands at the
edges that look like eyelashes.
4. Embroidery – Designs sewn in to a fabric by machine or hand.
5. Lace – Delicate fabric made of yarn.

7. Shimmer – A fabric that shines and reflects light.
8. Studs – Small metal ornament that is raised off the fabric. |

How to Take Care of
Lingerie: Most lingerie is delicate and should be treated as such so hand
washing is the best thing you can do. Use luke-warm water. Hot
water should never be used because it will break down the
elastic and it shrinks natural fibers. While specially designed
lingerie or delicate fabric wash is recommended you can also use
a very mild soap. It’s important that you do not use bleach - it
is too harsh for delicates. Once the garment is clean gently
rinse it with clear water and gently squeeze excess water. After
removing excess water smooth the garment and hang or lay it flat
to dry. Dryers and delicates don’t usually get along so it’s a
good idea that you don’t toss your lingerie into the dryer. Most
lingerie is made of light material so a shake and laying it out
flat will do the job.
Lingerie Fiber Materials:
The fast and clean of cleaning your lingerie:
1. Wash in lukewarm water
2. Use delicate fabric or mild soap
3. Gently squeeze or shake excess out water
4. Lay flat or hang to dry
Most materials are machine washable, but as mentioned before you
should hand wash your lingerie. If you must use the washing
machine, please use a lingerie wash bag. This will separate the
lingerie from the other items being washed. Make sure you wash
on the delicate cycle with other delicates and using a lingerie
or delicate fabric wash.
Here is a quick list of how to care for common and not so common
lingerie materials.
Cotton – Machine washable
Leather - Hand clean with leather
care products; be sure to test in an unnoticeable spot. Air dry.
Nylon – Machine washable
Polyester – Machine washable
PVC – Hand wash, warm water and
liquid detergent. Clean both sides and rinse with cool water.
Hang to dry; inside out first and then the PVC side.
Rayon – Hand wash or dry clean
Silk – Dry Clean - Some silks can
be hand washed but when in doubt dry clean |
